What it does

The working day of a small business: invoices and quotes, expenses and suppliers, products, customers, payments. Per-rate VAT breakdowns on every document. Sixteen reports across tax, business performance and banking, on both cash and accrual bases. Bank statement import and reconciliation. An accountant seat, so the person who files the returns works from the same records as the person who made them.

The part we care most about

Bookkeeping data has an adversary: the future. A tax inspection, a dispute, a partner who wants to know the numbers weren't quietly edited. So the record-keeping layer is built like it expects to be challenged:

• Every mutation lands in an append-only, sequence-chained audit trail.
• Issued invoices are immutable; corrections are new documents, not edits.
• Closed accounting periods lock — money-affecting changes are refused, not merely warned about.
• A daily integrity job re-verifies the chain and raises anomalies to an inbox a human reviews.
• Generated documents are content-hashed and kept under write-once retention.

Why now

Electronic invoicing is moving from optional to mandatory across the EU. For Ireland, Revenue's announcement of October 2025 set out a phased path: mandatory domestic B2B e-invoicing for large corporates from November 2028, intra-EU traders from November 2029, and alignment with the EU's ViDA digital-reporting regime in July 2030 — dates as announced, and subject to change. Every small business in that chain will need records that are structured, verifiable and exportable. That is what Aha Invoice is built for.
