The company

We earn our keep two ways. The first is client work: we handle the software activities of Global Security Devices, an Irish manufacturer of intruder alarm and access control systems — an industry where software failure has physical consequences, and where an engagement is measured in years, not sprints. The second is product work: we provide the full engineering behind Aha Invoice, bookkeeping software for small businesses.

The two feed each other. Client work in a reliability-first industry taught us operational discipline; carrying a product from design through operations keeps us honest about what good engineering costs and what it's worth. We are deliberately small — the people who design the systems are the people who build and operate them.

What we're building

Our bet is that small-business bookkeeping is about to change shape. Electronic invoicing is becoming mandatory across the EU in phases — in Ireland, per Revenue's October 2025 announcement, starting with large corporates in November 2028 and widening from there. When structured, verifiable invoices are a legal requirement rather than a nicety, record-keeping software built around a defensible audit trail stops being a luxury. That is Aha Invoice's starting position, and the engineering behind it is public in our note on the audit trail.

What we hold ourselves to

• Verifiable over impressive. We'd rather state a fact you can check than an adjective you can't. This site names one client and one product because that's what exists.
• Operations are the product. Software is judged in month thirty, not at the demo. We design for the person who has to run it — usually us.
• Discipline in the data layer. Records that can't be silently edited, changes that are logged, periods that lock. We apply bookkeeping-grade care even when the data isn't money.
